Rincon Valley USD Visioning for the Future

Potential Reconfiguration at Sequoia, Matanzas and Spring Creek Campuses

Rincon Valley Union School District (RVUSD) is proud of its reputation for our high-quality learning experience through our strong elementary and middle school programs.

Student enrollment fluctuations have been common throughout the District’s history. The Board of Trustees is studying a potential reconfiguration involving RVCS middle schools, Matanzas and Spring Creek Elementary campuses. The illustration below and information on this website represents the potential reconfiguration model under discussion. However, the exact reconfiguration of grade levels has yet to be determined and will depend on the outcome of community input.

At the heart of the reconfiguration discussion is the goal of improving RVUSD facilities, updating technology, expanding course offerings and meeting the social and emotional needs of students with vibrant campus environments. Over the last three years, numerous forums were held to discuss merging the two RVCS middle school campuses onto one school site. Changes in RVUSD District Staff and the 2017 wildfires postponed any clear decisions from discussions until now. In revisiting the discussion of consolidating the RVCS middle schools, the discussion now also includes potentially moving the Matanzas 4 – 6 grade programs to standardize Spring Creek’s program to a K – 6 school.

Upcoming Meetings

This fall, the Board of Trustees is reengaging in discussions exploring consideration of campus reconfiguration by holding public meetings for the community, school sites, staff, faculty, parents and students. The Board and Staff encourage all members of the RVUSD community and the public to be involved in the discussion to examine the impacts – positive or negative – of a possible campus reconfiguration plan.

Submit Feedback Online

This process will be open, transparent and interactive. RVUSD will keep the public posted on meetings, discussions, documents developed and other actions on the campus reconfiguration issues. We also encourage all interested parties to submit their feedback online. Our core goal is to consider options today which may offer best opportunities for RVUSD to further improve our excellent elementary and middle school programs ensuring RVUSD schools are in demand now, and in the future.
